Moldova will accelerate the repair of tracks to the border with Ukraine

The project provides for the overhaul of about 80 km and the current repair of about 153 km of track

In Moldova, repair work continues on the Bendery–Keushany – Basarabasca– Etulia–Giurgiulesti railway section. This is reported by Rail.Insider with reference to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the country.

The project provides for the overhaul of about 80 km and the current repair of about 153 km of track. After completion of the work, freight trains on the corresponding section will run at a speed of about 90 km/h.

Modernization within the framework of this project is carried out with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank. This is the busiest section of the railway in Moldova, which provides transit of goods from Romania and Ukraine.

The contractor company is Temirzhol Zhondeu LLC. The head of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Lilia Dabija stressed the importance of the project and asked to intensify efforts to accelerate the renovation of this section of the railway. According to the contractor, current repairs are being carried out, contracts are being concluded with suppliers of materials. The company also prepares equipment to perform the work.

Recall that Ukraine has restored train traffic on two sections on the border with Poland: the State Border – Starzhava – Hirov – Nizhankovichi – State Border (line 102) and Hirov – Sambor. UZ repaired about 70 km of tracks, renovated 10 bridges on these sections, and also restored the railway infrastructure in Hirov, Nizhankovichi and Starzhava.
